STRATEGY CONSULTING (Stax)
Stax analyzes targeted issues and solves complex problems for business strategy, operational
improvement, M&A, product development, marketing, and advertising. We’re engaged to help
corporate clients improve financial performance, investment firms improve their odds when
making investment decisions, and government agencies develop and improve market-facing
programs.  We're looking for several talented consultants in Boston and Chicago, at all levels,
who will work on a contract basis.  There are several full-time opportunities available as well.

ASSOCIATE (ENTRY-LEVEL)
As a contract Associate, you will be a critical member of a project team, providing analytic
support to consultants and managers.  You will:

* Collect and analyze market data from a variety of primary sources – this could mean talking to
a CEO about market trends one day, or an IT administrator about software choices the next.
This requires excellent communication skills, resourcefulness, and the ability to navigate
potentially complex topics during interviews. You may also participate in the writing/drafting of
survey guides.
* Bring your expertise in secondary data collection and analysis to the table. This requires the
ability to think creatively in the face of “hard to get data” as well as a solid set of Excel skills in
order to clean up, analyze and present data.
* Learn how to draw meaningful insights from primary and secondary data, working with a Stax
manager to structure presentations with clear storylines and conclusions using PowerPoint or
Word.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Undergraduate degree required.
* Ideally 0-1 years of market research, consulting, product development, strategic planning or
private equity experience.
* Outstanding communication and interviewing skills, and the ability to interact successfully with
a wide range of people.
* If you have quantitative modeling skills and/or financial analysis or complex database
development experience, these things are a big plus.

CONSULTANT (4-8 YEARS+ EXPERIENCE)

As a contract Consultant, you will serve as a key project team member responsible for
understanding the client’s issues, structuring analyses, collecting data, and conducting in-depth
analyses in support of client objectives. In many cases, you will be managing a small team of
research associates. You’ll independently summarize and present key findings, and also work
closely with managers and directors to convert your team’s findings into valuable insights and
actionable recommendations. You’ll own work streams, modules, and — after a period of time —
potentially whole projects. You’ll have exposure to a broad array of client needs and industries.
You will participate in client development efforts and help provide development opportunities to
other junior team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Candidates must have 2–4 years’ experience with a strategy consulting firm, strategic
planning/corporate strategy group, private equity/venture capital firm, or in a product/brand
management role.
* Excellent strategic thinking, understanding of business research and analysis.
* Quantitative and analytic skills required.
* Effective communication both written and verbal, and solid interviewing skills. Strong
presentation writing skills in PowerPoint and Word.
* Detail oriented.
* Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
* Experience hitting deadlines with complete analyses, and experience or interest in managing
small teams on project specific modules.
